The Reggio Calabria office, founded in 2002, with Prof. Rosario Giuffré, has operated and promoted scientific and training activities on the issues of environmental design and technological design culture involving researchers and teachers of the ssd ICAR 12 - Technology of Architecture [1] .
The headquarters in 2006 associated with the Interuniversity Center a Design, Higher Education and Documentation Center, Competitive Design and Technology Transfer, called ABITAlab with the scientific direction of Prof. Consuelo Nava.
ABITAlab, which belongs to the Department of Architecture and Territory - dArTe , operates on the topics of interest of the Interuniversity Center, with its own specific skills and infrastructures available, through Research & Transfer and Didactics & Training activities. The progress of many activities is disseminated and disseminated through the SID series, Sustainable Innovation Design, an editorial project with Aracne edizioni, born in 2019.

[1] The Reggio Calabria office, at the request of the National ABITA Center of 5 February 2002 and subsequent resolution with an additional deed for accession of 5 November 2003, joined the Center, with renewal of the founding act of the month of Nov. 1996 with an agreement dated 8 June 2005, for the renewal of the Center. (Unirc Academic Senate of 04/17/2002; Unirc Board of Directors resolution of 04/18/2002). The agreement with the Interuniversity Center was renewed in 2016 and 2022. The office does not constitute a spending center, but with reference to particular activities on agreement, third parties, etc. according to the University Regulations, it refers to the relevant Department - dArTe - Department of Architecture and Territory.
