The ABITA Center | MISSION

The ABITA Interuniversity Research Center is designed to promote cooperation, the exchange of knowledge, data, methods, competitive projects and programs to develop research and teaching activities on the themes of sustainability, energy efficiency and the integration of renewable energy and of recycling processes in architecture and environmental technologies and enabling innovation processes, raising the characteristics and standards of these trajectories in university teaching, higher education, research and technology transfer and in external consultancy for public and private individuals, administrations and companies.


It is currently present in 8 universities with reference to the Research Departments, founded between the University of Florence, the Polytechnic of Milan, the University of Naples Federico II and the "La Sapienza" University of Rome, Polytechnic University of Turin, University of Genoa, Second University of Naples, Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria (agreements 1996 - 2003), based in the relevant departments. The national headquarters of the ABITA Center is at the University of Florence, Department of Architecture, Scientific Secretary - Prof. Paola Gallo.

La sede di Reggio Calabria è entrata a far parte del Centro Interuniversitario dal 2002; dal 2015 la sede conferma la sua adesione al Centro Interuniversitario per le attività di formazione e alta formazione, mentre per le attività di Ricerca e Trasferimento tecnologico ha annesso il Laboratorio diretto dalla professoressa Consuelo Nava.

The Management Board of the Reggio Calabria office had as members:

  • from 2002 to 2006 Prof. R. Giuffé and Prof. A. Paolella;

  • from 2006 to 2015 Prof. C.Nava and Prof. G.Foti;

  • from 2015 to 2021 Prof. C. Nava,  Prof. G.Foti and Prof. A. De Capua;

  • since 2022, Prof. C.Nava and Prof. G.Foti.
